Meanwhile, Mr. Wednesday is having a conversation with Czernobog (Pavel Lyutsko), the Slavic god of chaos, about his plan to bring about a war between the old gods and the new. Wednesday wants Czernobog to join him, but Czernobog is skeptical, knowing that Wednesday's plan is fraught with risk.

The episode begins with a flashback to 1950s America, where we see Mr. Wednesday, then known as Wednesday, on the road, meeting various mythological figures, including a young Anansi (Tony Hale). Back in the present, Shadow and Laura are driving through the desert, trying to evade the men in black suits who are searching for them.
