Word of the invasion reached two brothers working in the pipes: Mario and Luigi. With a resolute nod, Mario stepped through the first warp pipe, beginning an epic trek across eight distinct worlds.

At the end of every world sat a looming stone fortress, guarded by a decoy Bowser. Each time Mario braved the firebars and lava pits to defeat the beast, he was met by a faithful Mushroom Retainer who delivered the same bittersweet news: "Thank you Mario! But our princess is in another castle!"

The Mushroom Kingdom was a world of vibrant greens and pixelated blues, a peaceful land ruled by Princess Toadstool. That peace shattered when the sky darkened with the shadow of the Koopa Troopas. Using powerful dark magic, Bowser, the King of the Koopas, transformed the mushroom people into stones, bricks, and field horsehair plants, plunging the realm into a static nightmare. He then kidnapped the Princess, the only one with the power to undo his spell.

The heavy iron door at the back of the chamber creaked open. There stood Princess Toadstool, safe at last. With a wave of her hand, the dark magic lifted, restoring the kingdom to its former glory. The quest was over, the high score was set, and the legend of the plumber was etched into the stars.
