The "Extended" or version of I ragazzi della 56ª strada ( The Outsiders ), released in 2005, includes approximately 22 minutes of additional footage to create a more faithful adaptation of S.E. Hinton's novel. This version, often preferred by director Francis Ford Coppola, significantly alters the film's pacing and tone by restoring character-driven scenes that were cut from the original 1983 theatrical release for time.
