Horrified by the charred remains of his best friend, Max becomes deeply disillusioned with the endless cycle of violence. Fearing that he is losing his own humanity and becoming just as bloodthirsty as the criminals he hunts, Max submits his resignation. His chief convinces him to take a paid vacation before making his decision final.
