Marina López is a Mexico City-born, Pittsburgh-based composer, educator, and emerging writer recognized for blending musical genres and creating immersive artistic experiences. Her work often explores the intersection of psychological, ethnomusicological, and physical roots of her Mexican heritage.
She is a co-organizer and creative collaborator with Art.coop, linking art, culture, and care.

López began pursuing musical composition in 2012, studying under the late Dr. David Stock and later completing her Master’s degree in Musical Composition at Carnegie Mellon University under Leonardo Balada in 2018.
She is interested in reconfiguring Western classical musical forms. For instance, her piece Folia deconstructs a Renaissance dance into a fractal structure. She has also created curricula for the Volta
