Held annually in May when the endemic Khari Bulbul orchid ( Ophrys caucasica ) blooms, the festival transforms the historic Jidir Plain ( Cıdır düzü ) into a stage for international and local talent. The festival was first organized by the Ministry of Culture in 1989 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the legendary Azerbaijani khananda Seyid Shushinski . It gained international status in 1990, featuring musicians
